Algorithm for Determining the Purity of Pure Organic Phthalates by the Indirect Mass Balance Method

Pure organic substances are the first and key link in chain of metrological traceability analysis. In most cases, purity determination substance is a non-trivial task, solution which requires preliminary theoretical study understanding capabilities instrumental methods for developing pertinent analytical procedure. Within study, an algorithm determining separate group compounds – ortho-phthalic acid esters (phthalates) was developed based on mass balance model general characterizing suitable isolation or purification by distillation. An additional classification probable impurities (into five types A E) depending their qualitative quantitative characteristics proposed, as well measuring confirming identity main component identified. The proposed implemented State Primary Standard GET 208 to determine six priority phthalates: dimethyl phthalate, diethyl di-(n-butyl) benzyl butyl di-(2-ethylhexyl) di-(n-octyl) phthalate. Certified pure phthalates were used create certified reference material composition orthophthalic methanol (6Ftlt-VNIIM) GSO 11366–2019. revealed that adapted considers specifics work with features separation within MB model, universal all congeners group, but does not exclude natural constraints method.
